De Villo Sloan holds a PhD in literature from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and he also completed additional graduate work at Syracuse University and the University of Maryland. Dr. Sloan’s writing has appeared in numerous journals including Substance, Sagetrieb, Sewanee Review, Journal of Popular Culture, and Southern Humanities Review. He has taught at Syracuse University, University of Maryland, Auburn University, and Wells College. Dr. Sloan is a writer in the advancement division at the University of Rochester and has long been involved in local archaeology studies.
