About Author

Janina Trotman taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sociology, policy studies, and gender studies in the School of Education at Edith Cowan University, Perth for twenty-eight years. Prior to entering academia she was a primary school teacher in the United Kingdom. She holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia, an MA from the University of Reading in Britain, and an Advanced Certificate of Education (with Distinction) from Oxford University. Dr. Trotman is co-author with Professor Lynne Hunt, Pro-Vice Chancellor of The University of Southern Queensland, of Claremont Cameos: Women Teachers and the Building of Social Capital in Australia (2002). She was on the Editorial Board of The Australian Journal of Teacher Education for ten years and has also published articles in History of Education Quarterly, The Australian Journal of Education, Discourse, and was a contributing author to Pedagogica Historica: Supplementary Series (1998).
