About Author

Tiina Itkonen is an assistant professor of education at California State University Channel Islands. She holds a PhD from University of California Santa Barbara; her dissertation won the 2004-2006 Politics of Education Outstanding Dissertation Award. Prior to her position in higher education, Dr. Itkonen had over 15 years of experience as a teacher, district and county office specialist, and state office project coordinator.
