About Author

T.S. Sunil is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He holds a PhD in sociology from the University of North Texas, as well as a PhD in demography from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), India, in addition to an MPH from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, an MPS from IIPS, an MSc in statistics from the University of Kerala, India, and a BSc in statistics from the University of Kerala. He has published articles in the Social Science and Medicine, Population Research and Policy Review, Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal, and World Health and Population.

About Vijayan Pillai

Vijayan Pillai is a professor of social work at the University of Texas, Arlington. He holds a PhD from the University of Iowa, a post-graduate diploma in Planning from the Centre for Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad, India, and a MSW from the University of Indore, India. Dr. Pillai is associate editor of International Journal of Sustainable Society and author of Designing Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Programs (with Dr. Thomas Crow). He has also published articles in the Journal of Social Science Research, Demography, Social Science Research, and World Development.
