About Author

Michael U. Mbanaso is an associate professor and Director of the E. Franklin Frazier Center for Social Work Research at Howard University. He holds a PhD from Portland State University, an MA from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a BA from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Dr. Mbanaso’s areas of research interests include, globalization and migration, aging, health research; poverty and social policy, human rights and migration, and socio-economic development in the developing world. He has recently published in the Journal of Gerontological Social Work.

About Chima J. Korieh

Chima J. Korieh is an assistant professor of history at Marquette University. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, an MA from the University of Helsinki, an MPhil from the University of Bergen, and a BA (first class) from University of Nigeria. Dr. Korieh is co-editor of The Aftermath of Slavery: Transition and Transformation in Southeastern Nigeria; Missions, States and European Expansion in Africa; Gendering Global Transformations: Gender, Culture, Race, and Identity. He is associate editor of Encyclopedia of Western Imperialism and Colonialism since 1450 and founder and editor of Mbari: The International Journal of Igbo Studies.
