The Creation of a Technical Community

Silicon Valley prides itself on being, first and foremost, a unique technical community. It is an environment in which scientific and engineering talent is in high demand, creatively fostered, and amply rewarded. To be successful in the Valley, one needs to be an engineer before aspiring to be an entrepreneur; one has to be endowed with technological expertise before becoming an expert in managerial practice.
