Perhaps most especially honored among Malagasy Christians are the life and work of the early missionaries who brought the gospel, many of whom rejected much of the practice and operating principle of a Malagasy worldview that is now lived out within the Christian community in the life and ministry of the Fifohazana. This juxtaposition of seemingly conflicting convictions calls forth consideration and research into the reasons why both convictions are authentic and real for many in the Malagasy Christian community and what formative and transformative meaning can be discerned from this reality for the church in Madagascar and for the Body of Christ in the world.
