    (a) 15th year of the Jianwu reign period of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty, 1st month, day dingwei [44]; a star became fuzzy in Mao [LM 18], and a star became fuzzy in Yingshi [LM 13].

    (b) 15th year of the Jianwu reign period of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty, 1st month, day dingwei [44]; a broom star appeared in Mao [LM 18], traveled slowly northwestward, and entered Yingshi [LM 13], trespassing on Ligong. On day yiwei [32], in the 3rd month, it reached Dongbi [LM 14] where it was extinguished, having been visible for 49 days.

    NB: Dong Han hui yao, ch. 16, has “2nd month, day yiwei [32].”

    3rd year of King Minjung of Goguryeo, winter, 11th month; there was a fuzzy star in the south; after 20 days, it was extinguished.

    31st year of King Yuri of Silla, spring, 2nd month; there was a fuzzy star in Zigong.

    30th year of the Jianwu reign period of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty, intercalary month, day guichou [50]; a star became fuzzy in Zigong.

AD 54 [China] (Ho 70)

    30th year of the Jianwu reign period of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty, intercalary month, day jiawu [31]; “Mercury” was at 20 du in Dongjing [LM 22] when it produced a white vapor pointing southeast with flames 5 chi long. It became a comet that traveled northeast as far as the western wall of Zigong where it stopped. On day jiazi [1] in the 5th month, it was not seen; in all, it was visible for 31 days.

    NB: In this year, the 3rd intercalary month did not contain day jiawu.
