In concluding the discussion on the model (figure 1.1), we ought to reemphasize the point that the business school's strategic plan provides the vision that guides its future development. The strategic plan should provide carefully considered goals and objectives for the college as a whole, its individual academic programs, and its tripartite mission of research, instruction, and service. It should identify changes within the college necessary to reach these objectives—as identified in the SWOT analysis. The strategic planning process should extend beyond faculty and administrators and include staff, students, alumni, and the business community. Necessarily, the strategic plan should be reviewed and reconceptualized for continuous improvement.
