The literature review integrates different viewpoints on science education reform initiatives, urban education perspectives, self-efficacy and teacher beliefs, and equity issues in science education. The present study focuses in part on the racialized science exposed by marginalized discourses in the literature and thus has important implications for all those who are included and excluded from science as well as for the kind of science that is done (Schiebinger, 1993).
