My parents taught me many valuable lessons in life, and while this book is the result of most of them, perhaps the most important ones were to read carefully and listen patiently. Last, but certainly not least, this book would not have seen the light of day had it not been for the unwavering support and bemused patience of the budding architect who accompanied me on this journey and believed, often more than I did, that one day it would finally be done.
