I would like to deeply thank and acknowledge Dr. Ronald Hunt and Dr. Richard Dennis; their guidance helped a young student learn the art of medicine.
Throughout my career, I have had many teachers and mentors—three who stand out in terms of my burn experience are Dr. David Herndon, Dr. David Greenhalgh, and, of course, Dr. Robert Sheridan.
I owe each of these gentlemen more than they realize and I hope that this book will be accepted as some small form of payment. All of us that treat injured children are motivated by these physicians, day in and day out.
