I have received a licence from Orion Publishing to adapt the two maps in Michael Grant, Ancient History Atlas, rev. ed. (London: Weidenfeld and Nicholson, 1974), 81–82; to show the growth of Christian centres of population in relation to Jewish populations. The cartographer was Joseph Banks.
