Acknowledgments
This book reflects the thoughts and experiences that have accumulated over thirty-five years of legal practice, and it also incorporates research drawn from my doctoral work at Macquarie University Law School in Sydney. As such, I am in the debt of my supervisor, Professor Denise Meyerson, and my examiners, Professors Michael Chesterman, Leslie Hitchens, and Dario Milo, for their insights and suggestions. I also express my appreciation to Professor Andrew Kenyon of the University of Melbourne Centre for Media and Communications Law for consenting to the use of material relating to libel tourism that I presented at a conference in Melbourne in 2008 and which appeared in Media & Arts Law Review and to David Heller at the Media Law Resource Center in New York for consenting to the use of material contained in my paper on reportage that was presented at the MLRC London Conference in 2009. The patience of my wife, Dr. Wei Wu, as well as my sons, Axel and Wyatt, have made the effort not only possible but even enjoyable. While I gladly share the credit for any contributions with all of them, any errors are purely my own.
