SS—Stowe’s source. This is the manuscript upon which John Stowe based his revised account of the death of Ferdinando Stanley. It is BL Harl. MS. 247, fols. 204–205, article nos. 57 and 58, titled “A Brief Declaration …” and “A True Report of such Reasons and Conjectures as Caused Many Learned Men to Suppose Him to be Bewitched,” respectively. Despite its two titles, the manuscript is one continuous document written in one hand (not Stow’s).
