The acknowledgments that must be noted in a book of this nature are too many to be listed fully. Beyond thanks to individuals and groups that have supported the members of our research team in their professional lives, we wish to make five specific acknowledgments. First, we would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to our research informants, who cannot be mentioned by name but who gave so much of their time, insight, and experience and without whose input this book would not have been possible.
