Acknowledgments
My inspiration for this work was my father, Eugene P. Marcink, Sr., to whom this book is dedicated. He taught me the value of hard work and in doing so taught me to respect and honor my roots in the working class.
For their guidance in helping me to shape this work in its earlier form and encouraging me to continue my research into the working class and film, I thank professors Mike Sell and Ronald Emerick of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Finally, for his steady support throughout this process from inception to completion, I must express my greatest gratitude to my mentor, Tom Slater of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His knowledge, advice, friendship, and encouragement were invaluable to me and instrumental in my completing this work.
