About the contributors

Teresa Forde is a Senior Lecturer in Film and Television and Programme Leader for the MA Humanities and Horror and Transgression at the University of Derby. She holds an MA in critical theory from the University of Nottingham. Her previous publications include the article ‘The Sunshine Soundtrack as Aural Attraction’ in New Review of Film and Television Studies, 2011. Teresa has also guest edited ‘Memory Screens’, a Special Volume of Journal Image [&] Narrative, including the article ‘Television Dramas as Memory Screens’ 2011. Forthcoming publications include ‘Adaptations of Solaris’ in Science Fiction across Media: Adaptation/Novelization, SF Storyworlds, forthcoming 2012. Teresa’s research interests include science fiction, soundtrack, and aesthetics.

Mel Gibson works for the University of Northumbria. Her PhD research focused on comics for girls in the United Kingdom. Her MA focused on critical and textual theory. In addition, she has both a BA in Modern Art, Design and Film and a B. Lib in Classical Studies and Librarianship. Her previous publications include ‘Cultural Studies approaches to Audience’ in Critical Approaches to Comics: Theories and Methods (edited by M.J. Smith and R. Duncan) and ‘Bella at the Bar’ in 1001 Comics You Must Read Before You Die: The Ultimate Guide to Comic Books, Graphic Novels and Manga (edited by Paul Gravett) as well as ‘Developing a core library collection for teenagers and young adults - selecting materials - comics, graphic novels and Manga resources’ in Library Services for Children and Young Adults: Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Age (edited by C. Rankin and A. Brock). She is on the reviewing panels of a number of journals, including The Journal of Popular Culture and Children’s Literature in Education and has sponsored a number of lectures and conferences through her NTF award.
