Finally, finding the right publisher for this book was a project unto itself. Many who are now acquisition editors came of age on gangster rap music and simply could not believe what they were reading. I was asked by some to “dumb down” the manuscript to a comic-strip style, but ultimately this book was too hot for them to take on because it shattered their beliefs about the music and business. I am deeply appreciative to Paul Richardson at Cambria Press, who immediately saw what this book was about, and to anonymous reviewers, who were enthusiastic about what they read. The Cambria Press staff has been a pleasure to work with.
