The second half of the chapter outlines a series of research projects that will further advance knowledge of rap’s effects.
The last chapter contrasts hip hop and gangster rap from the standpoint of the social values embraced by each. The book closes with a call for the replication of the San Jose coalition in order to address the same issues in other cities across the United States. This is, in effect, an outline for a new civil rights movement to address 21st-century issues of quality of life in civil societies where powerful media can both represent and misrepresent peoples and cultures.
