Finally, finding the right publisher for this book was a project unto itself. Many who are now acquisition editors came of age on gangster rap music and simply could not believe what they were reading. I was asked by some to “dumb down” the manuscript to a comic-strip style, but ultimately this book was too hot for them to take on because it shattered their beliefs about the music and business.
