The statistics demonstrate that the dichotomies of globalization are growing exponentially. Globalization has lifted many out of poverty, particularly in China and Brazil, yet it has created an increasingly poorer substrate of the world’s population, most notably in sub-Saharan Africa. Though globalization has saved some from disease, it has put basic necessities out of the reach of many. It has created a job boom in some regions and destroyed any chance of employment in others. It has made many in the world more aware of environmental degradation, all the while contributing to it.
