me to work on a conference paper with him and another student on the topic of “presidential adversity.” That was the birth of this current project. And when I left Miami, even though he continued for a time in his role as department chair, continued to chair several dissertation committees, and continued his pursuit of other research avenues, he never gave up on this research project.
