I now work for a living and understand what I once heard in disbelief, that graduate students have it easy compared with professors. But I wouldn’t have it otherwise. Reitaku University is a wonderful place to spend time, and the Moralogy Institute across the street has joined Reitaku in supporting my research and providing a community of real scholars. Chronicles, New Oxford Review, The Remnant, Public Discourse, Seiron, WiLL, the Sankei Shimbun, JAPAN Forward, Human Life Review, Asia Times, the University Bookman, and Society are invaluable fora for trying out new ideas (and occasionally some very old ones). Holy Apostles College and Seminary is where I learn that I don’t know anything. Peter Redpath, Timothy Smith, and Randall Colton showed me that quodammodo anima est omnia. The Japan Forum for Strategic Studies has the best assembly of political thinkers anywhere. The Rekishi Mondai Ninshiki Kenkyukai has the best historians. Paul de Lacvivier is a brilliant colleague and a fellow follower of truth. There are many good things happening in Chiba and beyond. If there is any happier than I, c’est bien à mon insu.
