About the Author
Paulos Milkias, who received his Ph.D. (Dean’s Honor List) from McGill University, has taught Humanities and Political Science at Marianopolis College / Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, for over two decades. He was Expert for History and Information in the Administration Department of the Ministry of Defense of Emperor Haile Selassie’s government. Dr. Paulos has published scores of scholarly articles in prestigious refereed journals such as African Studies Review, Journal of African Studies, Journal of Educational Thought, Journal of North-East African Studies, and Studies in Comparative International Development. His seminal work, Ethiopia: a Comprehensive Bibliography, published by G.K. Hall/Macmillan and Co. (extensively cited in the Oxford Guide to Library Research), has remained a major reference material for Ethiopianist, Africanist, and Third World scholars since 1990. The author is currently Co-Editor of North-East African Studies (Michigan State University). He is also Associate Editor of Horn of Africa Journal (Rutgers University) and the International Journal of Ethiopian Development Studies (Western Michigan University). Dr. Paulos is a renowned encyclopedist and anthologist. He was a contributing editor to the World Education Encyclopedia, and is co-author of a lead article on Ethiopian government and politics in Encyclopedia Aethiopica (Hamburg University, 2006). Dr. Paulos is an associate editor of the highly acclaimed Thomas Nelson’s New Christian Dictionary (2001). He co-edited The Battle of Adwa: The Historic Victory of Ethiopia over European Imperialism (Algora Publishing, 2005). He has also produced an extensive reference text entitled: Ethiopian Christianity A to Z: A Comprehensive Dictionary, currently under publication by University Press of America.
