It is worth emphasizing that the instincts interact with each other. For example, the creation of a better weapon may involve the instincts of workmanship and idle curiosity, but the object of the improvement might be predatory. On the other hand, the desire for a better weapon could also arise from the instinct of parenthood, as the weapon may help protect the group. The point is that human drives are interrelated and easily blend into each other. No one instinct is always dominant; human nature is complex.
