Collectively, people are fairly consistent in their conformist behavior exhibiting similar patterns across many types of social decisions, from fashions, to crime, to voting. When people go to the poll under the influence of conformity, following the norm that good citizens ought to vote, their conformity may spill over to their choice between political parties, subsequently influencing the outcome of an election and the party system.
