the watchtower. We have to beat the drums and check the wolf traps laid here and there … During the last attack, I heard something shut over there. Why don't you go with me to check the traps?
C: I would rather stay here.
B: I hope a wolf was caught this time … I will be back.
(WATCHMAN B exits. Long silence. WATCHMAN C looks up to the top of the watchtower, and then looks around on tiptoe. He does not know what to do with himself as if wolves are about to attack him anytime soon. Finally, he crouches down and covers his face with his hands, and stays still. WATCHMAN B enters. He comes with a savage-looking metal trap on his shoulder, and puts it down on the ground.)
B: Missed it again! What a sly beast! He stuck a branch in the trap and escaped. Son, please help me open this trap.
(The two watchmen open the mouth of the trap together, impressed by its sharp teeth.)
    C: It looks scary.
B: The trap's teeth got damaged because of the tree branch. I need to sharpen them with a hacksaw. (He takes out a rasp and sharpens the trap teeth. A sharp metal clang.) Well, it would be more fun if wolves were caught once in a while, but they don't help me at all. Every time I've heard something and gone to check it, they've already bailed out. Wolves are really cunning. I have set thousands of traps out there in the wilderness, but, lucky them, not a single wolf got caught yet. (With his index finger, he checks the sharpness of the teeth.) Well, it's ready. Dear wolf, please get yourself caught just once. Let me put this back where it was.
C: Please do it tomorrow morning.
