so thirsty. I don't want to return to where I was! I'm sick and tired of it! I really want to be happy now. I'll go to the captain to give him the sun. (D stops in front of E. He talks to E.) I love you. I love you with everything from my heart. (He puts both of his hands on her shoulder. E gazes at the pain on D'S face.) Ever since you got on this ship, you haven't said a word, but I know everything that you've been thinking about. You think now there is no meaning in one or two glasses of water. Yes, you're right. What could save me is not a couple glasses of water. After I drink it, I would go back to being thirsty again. I no longer want water. (He leaves E and walks back and forth.) I'm thirsty! But, I am the happiest I can be. I could just as well give the sun to the captain without asking for anything in return. I mustn't lose courage. I have to start something that will never go back to being the way it was. (He goes back to E.) My dearest sweetheart, now do you know what I'm about to do? (E sits on her box and shows no reaction almost like a sculpture) I'll go to the captain to give him the sun. Please, believe me. (To A, B, and c.) Please believe me. Pretty soon, the warning bell will go off again. I'll not climb into the box, but I'll wait and then yell. Until other people can hear me, I'll continue yelling. They'll take me to the captain. I'll not beg to save my life. When I meet him, I'll smile sweetly and say I'll give him the sun for nothing in return. (E keeps her silence.) Of course, I would need tremendous courage to do this. (To E.) But, if you love me, I could easily have the courage. (D shakes E's shoulders.) Love me! Hurry and love me. Please love me!

D: (He begs E.) If I can have your love, I could willingly give up everything. From the beginning to the end, I'll give it to the captain. I don't want to go back to the beginning. I'll give up going to a country of paradise. Since I plan to give him the sun, giving up a paradise is nothing. I am a happy man. Sweetheart, I'll return everything to him, and I'll keep only your love.
