- A: Me, either.
- C: Same here.
-
D: (He looks ready to cry.) Unfortunately, there is a smell on me.
-
A, B, & C: (They are very surprised?) What kind of smell is it?
-
D: (He halters but speaks in a low, timorous voice.) The smell is like salted sardine.

B: (His face becomes rosy and happy.) I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that now we don't have to worry about our death. We won't have to hear that exhausting sound of the warning bell ever again.

E: (She looks at them without a word.)

D: (Suddenly he opens the lid of his barrel, climbs out, and speaks in excitement.) Gentlemen, I am not a salted sardine! Although I do smell like one. (He happily jumps around.) The
