were phonetically romanized in the plays, the translators followed the revised romanization system for Korean, released in 2000 by South Korea's Ministry of Culture and Tourism; however, it might be necessary for directors to replace some Korean pronunciation-based words in the translated text with English alternatives for easy pronunciation for actual performance on the stage. While it is a common practice for theater translation books to include actual performance photos for better understanding and visualization of the performance on the part of readers as well as drama companies interested in staging the plays, the playwright himself expressed a strong desire not to have any stage photos included in this collection for the purpose of encouraging his readers to explore their own imaginative reading of the plays. Currently, Kang-baek Lee works as a professor of playwriting at the Seoul Institute of the Arts in Korea, and he is also working on his next volume of plays.
