At these events, members made appropriate uses of tune, context, and use with English lyrics to demonstrate their knowledge of Korean traditions but adapted the tradition to fit into our current situation. By examining the process as well as the effect of these events, I will show how Koreanness has become an integral aspect of members’ identities.

Finally, in closing, I will discuss the implications and contributions of this research project as they pertain to the lives of people of Korean descent in the United States. Even as we move into the next phases of our lives, our experiences of having been part of Mae-ari have indelibly affected our identities and identifications.
