Executive Summary
Introduction
Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are distinguished by an excess of several behavioral characteristics such as inattention, distractibility, restlessness, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Although most children exhibit these behaviors to some extent, it is the excess of these behaviors that is thought to lead to significant impairments for the child in academic, social and family settings. Previous research has suggested that mothers of children with ADHD experience more stress, anxiety and depression as a result of the increased caretaking demands associated with their child’s disorder.
